It can be if you screen patients with heart failure (HF) for iron deficiency (ID). Iron deficiency in patients with HF often leads to reduced exercise capacity, which is associated with poor quality of life and worsened outcomes.3
The 2022 AHA/ACC/HFSA guidelines recommend screening all HF patients for iron deficiency to obtain a definitive diagnosis.4
